The synthesis of acrylic resins and the copolymers used to synthesize vinyl monomers such as acrylate, methacrylate and styrene are called acrylate resins (AR).

This kind of resin has the characteristics of light color, color retention, light retention, weather resistance, corrosion resistance and pollution resistance, and has been widely used in automobile, aircraft, machinery and electronics, furniture, construction, leather, wood, paper, printing and dyeing, industrial plastics and daily necessities finishing and other fields.
Its main types are solvent AR, waterborne AR, high solid component AR and powdered AR.

Acrylic resins of different types, properties and application fields can be synthesized by selecting different resin structures, formulations, production processes and solvents. Acrylic resins can be divided into thermoplastic acrylic resins and thermosetting acrylic resins according to their structures and film forming mechanisms.

1. Water-soluble acrylic resin has been widely used in water-borne coatings with the increasing attention to the environment and health.

2. Solvent-based acrylic resin solvent-based acrylic resin mainly refers to acrylate or methacrylate through free radical solution polymerization of homopolymer or copolymer with other olefin monomers, with the volatilization of the solvent, film-forming substances and other non-volatile components together form a uniform continuous film. 3. High-solid acrylic resin and high-solid acrylic resin were prepared successfully on the basis of common acrylic resin in order to meet the requirements of development. The solid content of the coating should not be less than 60% of the mass or 80% of the volume.

4. Powdered acrylic powder coatings are mainly solid powders composed of resin, curing agent, pigment, filler, additives, etc. They are coated on the surface of the coatings by electrostatic spraying, and then baked to make them melt flat and solidified into films.

Because it contains no organic solvents, no pollution, high utilization rate, low energy consumption and simple process, it has become a recognized "4E" (high production efficiency, excellent film performance, ecological environmental protection, economic) coating.
